Above Cortina there is the small, but spectacular ski area Falzarego - 5 Torri that extends from 1889 meters of Bai de Dones to 2778 meters of Lagazuoi passing through 5 Torri, Col Gallina and Falzarego Pass (2105 m).
From December 2021 a new cableway connects Son de Prades - Cinzopè - Bai de Dones, finally allowing the connection between the Tofane ski area and the 5 Torri - Falzarego ski area. The ski area of Cortina is thus connected to the Sellaronda and the other famous ski tour of the Dolomites, the suggestive Tour of the Great War, is greatly facilitated.
Three chairlifts, one ski lift and one cable car are added to the service of alpine skiers in the Falzarego-5 Torri ski area, while in the whole area of Cortina-Auronzo-Misurina and San Vito di Cadore there are 38 out of 120 km.
There is also a spectacular descent, the Armentarola, of almost 6 km from Lagazuoi to Alta Badia in Armentarola. The slopes are of varying difficulty, in particular at Col Gallina there are numerous slopes suitable for children. From Col Gallina you can reach the slopes of the Cinque Torri that develop on two opposite sides: the one exposed to the north includes several tracks that connect Rifugio Averau with Bai de Dones; on the side exposed to the south you can reach Rifugio Fedare in the area of Passo Giau with a view of Marmolada.
Starting from the Lagazuoi 5 Torri area there are many ski-mountaineering and off-piste excursions reserved for expert skiers, even better if accompanied (www.guidealpinecortina.com). Moreover, every Friday and Saturday the mountain refuges organize dinner-events upon reservation. The refuges can be reached on foot, on skis, by snowmobile and also by chairlift, but only by reservation at the refuges. Afterwards it is possible to go down by ski, snowmobile or on foot.
