Maniva is a mountainous area in the province of Brescia. The name comes from Mount Maniva proper. The Maniva is a rather large territory and denotes an articulated set of peaks, steps, ponds, palm trees, places surrounding Mount Maniva. Almost always, the "Maniva" is referred to not so much as referring to the summit from which it takes its name quite as a whole meaning the area in the extensive meaning described. The Maniva area is located at the head of Valtrompia. The ridge of some tops (Dosso Alto and Corna Blacca) make a natural border with Val Sabbia (or more precisely its tributary Val Caffaro) and others (Mold, Colombine and Crestoso) with Val Camonica (or more precisely , Its tributary Val Grigna).
