A BIT OF HISTORY
The village experienced a rapid urban development in the seventies, which coincided with the installation of advanced ski facilities (produced in Angoulême, France) at an altitude of 1200 meters and the construction of modern hotels. In those years the village became a popular tourist destination in the heart of the Maritime Alps and changed its name from Sangrato to Saint Grée.
However, in the following years there was a progressive decrease in snowfall that forced an early closure of the facilities and hotels, since 1997 in a state of abandonment. These were thus added to the approximately 40 obsolete ski resorts scattered throughout the Piedmontese Alps.
In 2002, thanks to the funding provided by the Piedmont Region, new sports facilities were built (including a chairlift and an ice-skating rink), which allowed the ski resort to reopen with new perspectives.
