TORGNON, “the white heart of Aosta Valley”, has nothing to envy of the more well-known ski areas. It is the ideal place for families and children, it is protected by the cold winds and offers an on-the-snow playground (“Winter Park”) equipped with mega slides and fun games that makes it easy to learn to ski.
At the foot of the Matterhorn (4478 m) lies Torgnon (1515 m) a sunny village at the heart of Valtournenche which offers, thanks to its 20 km of piste, (with snow cannons), the opportunity for lower level skiers to shine. The ski area boasts an ideal sunny, position protected from the north wind. The pistes are supplied by 4 lifts reaching an altitude of 2.250m and have an hourly capacity of 6500 persons. The ski area is reached via an 8 seater cable car (p/h 2000) and the departure station is in the town and arrives up to Chantorné, at 1868 m.
Torgnon, along with its downhill runs (20 runs of varying difficulty), is also famous for its cross-country skiing tracks (of 3, 5, 7.5, 10 and 20 kilometres, amongst the longest in Aosta Valley) through the forest offering truly enchanting panorama. Appropriately named the sun-kissed village, “pays du soleil”, it is located in an exceptional position which captures, even in mid-winter, the very last rays of sunshine just before night falls. There is also an accessorised Snowpark and Boardercross.
Torgnon has 5 hotels, 2 blocks of service flats and many rooms and appartments to rent.
It can be reached from Italy by the A5 motor-way Turin-Aosta, exit Châtillon/Saint-Vincent.
Follow the Valtournenche direction on the regional road. From France and Switzerland it can be reached by the Gran San Bernardo Tunnel, going on by the slip road in the Turin direction, exit Châtillon/Saint-Vincent.
